Majors to Consider Based on The Loud House Girls

If you're still contemplating college majors and are a fan of the animated sitcom The Loud House, student writer Hannah has some major suggestions for you.

Have you ever watched The Loud House? It’s a cartoon sitcom that focuses on brother Lincoln Loud and his life dealing with his 10 sisters. Lincoln’s sisters all have different but strong personalities—personalities that exemplify characteristics and skills required for many college majors. Looking at fictional characters can sometimes create an interest in the field they’re displaying or interested in themselves. There are five sisters in particular that I find interesting: Lori, Luna, Luan, Lynn, and Lisa Loud. Let’s take a look at how their personalities would match well with different college majors.

Lori Loud: Marketing and Communications

Lori Loud is the oldest of the siblings and is the stereotypical teenage girl. Lori is always on her phone texting or on social media and is the boss of her siblings. If you relate to Lori and love social media, you could pursue a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications. A Communications degree is all about exchanging information, whether it be verbal or written.  Marketing focuses on the relationship of products and customers. When majoring in these fields, you would be speaking in public places, establishing brands, and collecting data for different reasons. A few careers you could have include social media manger, product manager, market research manager, paralegal, journalist, public relations manager, and more. If you love social media or just talking in general like Lori, this is a good field to consider.

Luna and Luan Loud: Performing Arts

Luna Loud is the musician of the family. She loves rocking out with her guitar and reciting any lyrics she can fit into a situation. Luan Loud is the comedian of the family. She loves to tell jokes, pull pranks on her family, and has a ventriloquist dummy named Mr. Coconut. If you’re interested in putting on a show and expressing yourself creatively, then majoring in Performing Arts is the best thing for you. Performing Arts programs allow you to act, dance, sing, and play instruments for credit! It also gives you the flexibility to be well rounded in all the arts or just focus on the one you like best. However, if you’re unable to pick only one focus, you’ll most likely have an opportunity to take on a double major and receive two degrees when you graduate.

Lynn Loud: Physical Education

Lynn Loud is the athletic person in the family, and she will turn any normal activity into a sport because she’s extremely competitive. If you’re like Lynn and love any sport, you could major in Physical Education. This field is best for students with a passion for athletics, physical fitness, and wellness. It will give you the opportunity to teach and motivate students in grades K–12 and provide healthy choices through physical activities and healthy eating at influential times in their lives.

Lisa Loud: Science and Engineering

Lisa Loud is the second youngest in the family, but she’s the smartest with a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD). (Remember, it’s a cartoon!) Lisa loves science and doing experiments in her lab. If you’re interested in science and experimenting, a Biology or Chemistry major would fit you well. Chemistry involves testing chemical reactions, while Biology explores different theories and facts to understand more about the nature of life. If you enroll in a Biology- or Chemistry-based program, there are endless opportunities for specific majors like Pre-health, Marine Biology, Chemical Engineering, etc. You could also even get a job for the military or NASA one day with these majors.

Even though The Loud House is a television show, the children’s characteristics and skills display many ideas for college majors you may be interested in. Considering their personalities can encourage majors from Physical Education to Biology. I recommend learning about the other sisters too, as they all have different personalities that may help you discover an interest in a completely different major. If you’re looking for insight into other majors, have some fun and identify more options according to your favorite TV shows and characters.

CollegeXpress has helped me learn about an abundance of scholarships available to me and my situation. I was able to do research for colleges in my best interest with your website. I've had multiple colleges email me and offer me multiple scholarships and things of that nature because of this website! Thank you so much for uploading scholarships I didn’t even know existed, even if my life took a huge turn and I wasn’t able to go to college straight out of high school. CollegeXpress helped me a lot in high school to be even more motivated to get into my dream college (which I did, by the way). I'm looking forward to using the materials CollegeXpress has kindly provided me for free to look for scholarships to help pay for college.

$500 Refer-a-Friend Scholarship Winner

Toward the beginning of last year, I was searching for scholarships to apply to through my school, town, websites online, and anything else I could find. I asked tons of questions [online] about scholarships and the best places to find them because I was desperate and needed as many as I could find. I came across a ton of bogus websites, but as soon as I found CollegeXpress, I knew I had to tell other people about it. It was definitely the most helpful site I came across, so I told my friends about it. CollegeXpress is definitely a website worth giving as a source.

When I started looking at colleges in the beginning of my senior year, I was conflicted about which ones I wanted to attend based on safety, tuition costs, location, academic rigor, and prestige. Searching the internet and getting more questions than answers, I came across CollegeXpress, which made all the steps I had taken look like a minor issue. Everything was summarized and detailed, and I couldn't be more thankful and appreciative.
